At the foot of the Jura Mountains and between two mountain torrents – the Journans and the Oudar – Cessy offers a pleasant living environment. The commune has 4,843 inhabitants called Cessien(ne)s and it borders the communes of Gex to the north, Sauverny and Grilly to the east, Segny and Versonnex to the south and Echenevex to the west. This urban village benefits from a privileged location, both close to the city and road access, but still keeping its rural charm.
 
In addition,the municipalities of Gex and Cessy have a common functioning and there are many inter-municipal projects. Also, the Gex-Cessy agglomeration is one of the main urban centres of the Pays de Gex, along with the agglomeration of Ferney-Voltaire (Ferney-Prévessin-Ornex) and the municipalities of Divonne-les-Bains, Saint-Genis-Pouilly and Thoiry.
 
Cessy is a residential municipality that has experienced relatively significant population growth, with a 32% increase in its population in 10 years (from 2008 to 2018). The latter is young : 39 % is under 30 years old, nearly 64.7 % under 45 years old.
It is a popular town in the Pays de Gex, which attracts a lot of families; Hence the importance of actions in favour of young people in the municipality.

Cessy: a strategic location

Ideally located at the gates of the city of Gex, between the Jura mountain range and Lake Geneva, Cessy benefits from the city's services and infrastructures while being in the immediate vicinity of natural areas, with the Jura massif in the background. The municipality particularly promotes soft modes of communication (pedestrians, bicycles) and several cycle paths and specific paths have been developed.
 
Cessy is easily accessible, both by road and by public transport. The town is crossed by cross-border bus lines 60 and 61, which connect Gex to Geneva Cornavin station. And soon a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) will connect Geneva in less than 25 minutes. Like several French towns between Ferney-Voltaire and Gex, Cessy is served by the "Noctambus " TPG night network, thanks to which you can return from your Geneva evenings at the weekend without taking your car.

Cessy: a preserved green setting

The town of Cessy has a beautiful natural heritage with its 200 hectares of communal forests and its pond, which is one of the favourite places for people to walk. Whether it's for a barbecue, a game of pétanque or a sports course, there is no  shortage of good reasons to go to the Cessy pond! Accessible to the whole family and people with reduced mobility, this body of water is however dedicated to fishing, you will not be able to swim there.
 
For your children, the town has a kindergarten, an elementary school and a recreation center. Middle school and high school are very close by, in Gex. The town is also equipped with a sports complex with a petanque court and 3 football pitches.

Cessy: a dynamic real estate market

Cessy has more affluent households than in Gex, with a median annual income of €38,750 (compared to €32,900 for Gex). Being popular with families, the city has a large share of large dwellings, 65.4% of them with 4 or more rooms. 90% of the dwellings are primary residences and the majority of them are houses (52.7%). The turnover rate of the real estate market in Cessy is quite moderate, with supply being lower than demand. The available properties do not stay on the market for long!
