The town of Saint-Genis-Pouilly offers many advantages and benefits from a great dynamic. For you, we have surveyed it and here is our feedback. With more than 13,434 inhabitants nicknamed the "Saint-Genésiens", this welcoming town is the most populous in the Pays de Gex. The different hamlets of the commune are : Flies, Pouilly and Pregnin. Bordering the Swiss city of Meyrin, Saint-Genis-Pouilly is located at the gateway to Geneva, its airport and Lake Geneva. You instantly appreciate the practicality of its location, but also its cosmopolitan and friendly character.

In addition to the large employment area that is the Geneva metropolis, Saint-Genis-Pouilly is home to CERN (European Centre for Nuclear Research) as well as two commercial hubs, the Allondon business park and the Technoparc, bringing together 160 companies that could be a good fit for you. In terms of daily life, Saint-Genis-Pouilly, which has been booming for several years, has been constantly reinventing itself while maintaining a pleasant neighbourhood life, with its historic city centre, its cultural events at the Théâtre du Bordeau and its pedestrian paths along the banks of the Lion and Allondon rivers.

Opt for an apartment near Pregnin or Flies. More out-of-the-way, but still less than 15 minutes by car from the centre of Saint-Genis-Pouilly, these two small towns have retained all the charms of the countryside with the advantages of a small town on a human scale. You will still find a village life and spirit, although it has developed in recent years. A stone's throw from the Jura mountains, hiking, sledging and skiing are a 30-minute drive away!

Saint-Genis-Pouilly : a strategic location

Just like Ferney-Voltaire, Saint-Genis-Pouilly is a major gateway to the Geneva metropolis. Its immediate proximity to the Swiss border, thanks to the Meyrin customs, makes it an ideal place to live for cross-border commuters.

The town benefits from services designed for families and an ideal connection to motorway and public transport networks: bus, Geneva airport, Bellegarde-sur-Valserine and Genève-Cornavin stations and soon the BRT (Bus Rapid Transit), which will link CERN and the " Porte de France " junction. Indeed, given its strong urban development, in particular by the emergence of the new district " Porte de France ", Saint-Genis-Pouilly plans to increase the current transport offer in order to facilitate traffic and meet the increase in travel demand.

In addition to the Technoparc and the Allondon business park, the town centre of Saint-Genis-Pouilly and the " Simone Veil " administrative city are home to many local shops and services, not to mention the Val Thoiry shopping centre just a few kilometres away. In a few years' time, this offer will be complemented by the emergence of a new large shopping centre called " Open ", which will bring together around fifty shops and many restaurants.

In terms of culture, Saint-Genis-Pouilly is not to be outdone with the George Sand Media Library, the Théâtre du Bordeau and the Jean Monne cultural centre. On the sports side, the town has an aquatic centre "Au fil de l'Ô ", two gymnasiums, an athletics stadium, football and rugby pitches, a tennis club and a golf course. These sports and cultural facilities as well as the many playgrounds and extra-curricular activities offered by the city are a delight for families, who represent 64.6% of households.
